OnlyOneChapter.com is all about "discovering and promoting new writing talent".

The site is unique as it has numerous publishers supporting it and is designed

- to promote potential authors and their manuscripts in the form of only one chapter
- for publishers to discover new talent online
- for publishers and authors to promote new releases

This "launch" opportunity is only open to a limited number. If you would like to promote your work to UK publishers, we will need the following:

Requirements (all to be sent by email in word doc):

·  First Chapter – max 4,000 words, double spaced, Roman 12pt
·  Brief – max 100 words
·  Synopsis – max 2,000 words
·  Mini-biog and photo

We are launching very shortly and are giving MyWritersCircle members the opportunity to upload your work for FREE. This is a limited offer, so please send the above to

Hello OnlyOneChapter.com, or may I call you Only for short?  Wink

A couple or three questions for you:

1, What is a Brief? I'm assuming it's a short blurb, but I have been known to be wrong...
2, Any chance of letting us know who the publishers are that are supporting you?
3, Will you accept all submissions or is there a vetting or selection process in place?

Thanks.

Hi

1. Brief - correct, a short blub, similar to the Amazon description

2. OnlyOneChapter.com will be heavily promoted and authors and publishers will be made well aware of the site.  We have the
commitment from a large number of publishers at present including Little Brown Book, Tindal Street, Maia Press, Robert Hale Books, to
name a few. We will be continually registering credible publishers to use the site as an additional source, thereby delivering value to
both parties.  This is critical as it would encourage writers to register and promote their work, safe in the knowledge that there would
be a distinct possibility their manuscript may be read by a publisher.

3.  To ensure quality, submissions will be vetted and screened and only work that is deemed to be of an acceptable standard will be
registered.  We have taken this step to control the quality of work and to encourage publishers to actively use OnlyOneChapter.com

Thanks for your questions.

Regards

Only

Thanks for the speedy reply, Only.

I have another question for you:the opening chapters of my novel are currently on YouWriteOn.com, the Arts Council sponsored web site for new writers, would this prevent my first chapter from being on your site?

Thanks.

Prevent it, absolutely not.  Authors should have and be given every opportunity to promote their work.  It's hard enough with publishers not accepting unsolicited manuscripts.  We will screen all submissions, but we would not turn away good quality work if it was on other sites.

We look forward to receiving your work.

Thanks Russ.

This is open to anyone, anywhere.  At the moment we are promoting ourselves to the UK publishing industry, but would welcome details of overseas publishers as it is our intention to offer authors the global publishing opportunity.  We would also appreciate members promoting the site to fellow writers.  We anticipate the site will go live in two weeks.

When sending submissions - can you also state the "genre" as well.

My first chapter is too long, at over 5000 words  Angry

Not sure if this is open to non fiction though anyway, since most of these sites do seem to be aimed more at novelists.   Huh

Hi June,

My submission was non-fiction and it was accepted.

Is there anyway you can leave a part of the chapter out at the end? The limit is 4000 words

Will have another read and see. Might try the original version, since I have updated it and added quite a bit. The old version then may well fall within the stipulated word count.

Does that mean there will eventually be  a charge? If so, what sort of fees is your site going to require after the launch and what all are you going to provide in exchange for those fees?

Hello everyone. I happened on this site as I was doing a search for OnlyOneChapter. Like at least a few of the members here, I also participate on the YouWriteOn site and you may be interested to know that OnlyOneChapter sent a form letter via direct e-mail to quite a few of the YWO members, extending the same invitation. I sent back a reply asking for specifics, including a blunt "what's the catch?", and the reply was prompt but really didn't answer my questions and did not include the FAQ that was referred to in the body of the e-mail. It did mention a yearly fee of eighty-nine Pounds.

Regardless of how I discovered My Writers Circle, I am glad to have found it and hope to visit often.

My best to all,
Alan
