My left hand's lifeline loops around the base of my thumb and almost reaches the back of my hand.

Ditto.  There's a glitch and continuation in mine, and I reckon that was when I came close to losing it all a few years ago.

I've got a pretty long life line, and both sides of the family are, generally, tenacious buggers.

I've noticed that tenacious people seem to age more slowly than the rest of the population. An odd effect.

The lines on my left hand are quite pronounced. Maybe because I'm a southpaw. Growing up lefty in a right-handed world often poses problems. The more adventurous you are, the bigger the problems.

It stands to reason that the lines on your dominant hand will be deeper because that is the hand you most often fold round tools etc.  It quite simply gets more 'creasing'.  The exception to this is some trades where the skin gets worn away a lot faster.  This would often show up in the hands of women who had been 'in service' and spent years giving laundry and  bedclothes, etc a 'final smooth down' with an open palm.  They tended to have a lot of fine lines too.  My Gran's palms were like this.  Worked hard all her life.

Being a baker and moulding bread by hand for years virtually erased the lines towards the heel of my hand and along the outside edge.  Some of them are beginning to reappear many years later..

I know that line you mean which wraps around the base of the thumb and sometimes joins onto the lifeline.  It's a different line, but my brain has gone blank at this time of night.

Regarding the length of your life line don't read too much into it anyway.  A broad or deeply chiselled lifeline indicates vigour and vitality, which are better signs than a supposedly long life.

I once read a child's palm and was convinced he wouldn't live much beyond sixteen.  The poor little lad only managed four and a half months.  A lot of palmists won't even attempt to read children, and I can't blame them.

It's never going to be an exact science and anyone who suggests otherwise is fooling themselves.  Having said this I've met a few who have been uncannily accurate, but these have been the ones who used intuition as well, rather than just the lines which I think of as 'mechanical' palmistry.

Anyway, I'm starting to run down after my evening out.  I'll probably be off to bed soon.

Back in my drinking days I never needed more than twelve consecutive hours of serious drinking to reach the truculent or depressed, depending on what I was drinking.  Rum in serious excess led to truculence, and brandy - likewise in excess - made me depressed.

It's a time limit, not a volume limit.  You've still got about five and a half hours left.

So just drink faster.
